Plea In Gujarat High Court Seeking Cancellation Of Viva and Semester End Examinations At ‘Institute Of Law, Nirma University’

In light of the recent surge in Covid cases in the country, a student from the “Institute of Law Nirma University” has approached the Gujarat High Court, seeking cancellation of semester-end exams and viva voce.

The petition was filed by Razaiwala Md. Hammad Hussain, who claimed that approximately 274 students/families have recently tested Covid-positive and that as a result, they might not be able to appear in the viva voce scheduled for May 8 and the written examination scheduled for May 20.

Many students have urged the university to consider a different grading system based on total semester results, according to the study. In light of the current situation, a number of other universities, including the National Law Universities, have given their students some relief.

The Respondent-University, on the other hand, did not provide enough relief to its students.

Such inhumane and pressurizing behavior on the part of the respondent university may lead to some students self-harming or committing suicide, according to the plea.
